Requirements

To join Fleet 22, you need:
  • Own or have access to a J/105

    Boat must be registered and in good standing

  • Be located on or near Lake Erie

    Current fleet ports: Cleveland, Buffalo, Toledo, Erie

  • Pay annual dues (see below)

    Two separate payments: Class Association + Fleet 22

How to Join - Simple Steps

1 Pay J/105 Class Association Dues

Amount: $100 per year

What it's for: National J/105 Class Association membership, class rules, sail certification, and national championships eligibility

Payments processed by J/105 Class Association

2 Pay Fleet 22 Lake Erie Dues

Amount: $50 per year

What it's for: Local Fleet 22 activities, website maintenance, regatta support, and social events

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. J/105 Class Association dues ($100) go to the national class and are required for sail certification and participation in class events. Fleet 22 dues ($50) support local fleet activities on Lake Erie. Both memberships are required for full participation.

Fleet 22 members compete in local Lake Erie regattas including Cleveland Race Week, Mills Regatta (Toledo), Buffalo Summer Regatta, and other PHRF/one-design events. You're also eligible for regional and national J/105 championships including the North Americans.

Fleet 22 is specifically for boats based on Lake Erie (Cleveland, Buffalo, Toledo, Erie, etc.). If your boat is located elsewhere, contact your regional J/105 fleet or the national class association for information about fleets in your area.

Absolutely! Fleet 22 has many experienced sailors who are happy to help newcomers. We organize seminars, practice sessions, and informal coaching. Don't hesitate to reach out to fleet members for advice on boat setup, sail trim, and racing tactics.
